The West African Development Bank (BOAD) serves as the primary source of financing for the Union's development projects. As an autonomous and decentralized institution, BOAD works to ensure that the goals set forth in the UEMOA Treaty are met without sacrificing the Union's independence. BOAD is a public organization with an international scope that works to support the growth and functioning of the regional financial market. To this end, BOAD will create a special fund to absorb and, if necessary, fulfill public requests for securities, without relying on the banking system.
